Most of the Saturday was very cloudy and rainy, but towards the night it started to clear up a bit and we only had light and occasional drizzle during our night watches. The waves were still very choppy though, short and steep, not at all like I’m used to from the Atlantic and most likely whipped up by some strong winds that didn’t last too long. We didn’t have very strong winds – 25kn apparent max, but closed hauled nevertheless and so splashy and wavy. On Sunday the wind started to drop, making it hard for us to keep course as it’s harder to sail high into the wind with choppy waves and light winds, but the sun came back out and it turned out to be a lovely day. Every day the temperature has been dropping, where we started our trip in shorts and a shirt we are now wearing long pants and a sweater during the day, even though it’s a nice and sunny day. Foul weather gear over it at night. We are currently under engine – the wind has left us completely now and the waves have transformed into long rolly cris cross swell which makes the ocean look beautiful. We have 60nm left to Bermuda, hopefully we will make it before nightfall.
