We are on our way again, crossing the bay of biscay. A piece of water that is notorious for crappy weather. It’s certainly not bad weather at the moment, even though it is in fact crappy for us as the wind is still on the nose. But other than that we have blue skies and a lovely warm sun on our backs. A big contrast to Northern Spain where we’ve been surrounded by fog since we arrived. It did give the whole coast and surroundings a cool mystical feeling, but we’re happy to see the sun again now. Just after lunch we were visited by a couple of common dolphins again, gently swimming alongside Guppy. We were all distracted by the dolphins and almost missed the whale that was swimming near the surface a few hundred meters from Guppy and blowing air frequently. Now mesmerized by the whale, we forgot the dolphins and once the whale went under the dolphins had gone as well. But we are not alone out here by any means. Lots of boats are always around us, so the watches, during the night and day have become an even more important part as not all boats have AIS either.. Yesterday I was the unlucky one on watch during dinner and I found out that eating fried rice while there is 25 knots of wind blowing into the bowl is rather difficult. I spend a bit of time afterwards finding stray rice grains.. Oh well 🙂 But what did manage to get into my mouth was very yummy.
