Today has been one of those typical trade wind days. Blue ocean, blue sky, warm and sun. A squall in the evening or night and a steady breeze from behind. Our young crew are on 4hr shifts, so that means 4hrs on 8hrs off. The duties like cleaning lunch and dinner have been divided into different groups but everyone always has one duty each day. The free time they read, play guitar, work on their school or do some odd jobs they like onboard. Most of them find that the days fly by. In fact they have a hard time doing all the things they want to do on a day. So far we all have had a very nice passage with a rather slow windless start. On the big sea chart that lays below we plot our position everyday – it’s getting close to Barbados now and I can sense the anticipation and excitement to reach the new island, whereas before there had been a tranquil “we will get there when we get there” attitude. Our current ETA is an early arrival on the 12th

Can’t wait to see you arrive! I am sure the kids are anxious for yummies and wifi! I know I am eager to hear my child’s voice after radio silence for so long! Hopefully customs will be cooperative 😁.
Hi Laura, well you all do not miss anything in Europe, I think. Deep winter also in the “Pre-Spessart Mountains” (district of Aschaffenburg), repeating the sense of Ben’s words. Do you books on board, your crew is reading now, or did everyone bring books with him? I am just reading “A Promised Land” by Barack Obama, where he is writing about his presidency as 44th president of the USA. There will be a second book he has said, as it was all too much for one book. But this second book is still to come. I think it is a great book, especially as he writes also about the background of American politics, a book, I can recomment to everyone to read. Rudi
The call of duty … on the high seas. Wish you all always fair winds, smooth waves! Georg
Heerlijk! Kunnen we niet ruilen? Petweer hier in Holland. Fijn dat land (bijna) in zicht komt. Even de benen strekken en nieuwe (lekkere)dingen kopen. 🙂 En ook ik zie uit naar foto’s van de reis. Behouden vaart!
That is great news. I am soooo looking forward to some pictures of your past weeks. I have been reading back in your blog and just enjoying it so much. Have a great arrival and enjoy the sun. Deep winter here in southern Germany. Minus 8 degrees last night and snow coverage everywhere. Bon voyage! Ben
