We have been peacefully continuing our way on the Caledonian Canal, in fact, we have past the highest point and started our descent today. With 17 locks behind us and still 12 to go 🙂 The weather has continued to be amazing, dry, sunny and warm. On Loch Ness we were even able to sail for quite a stretch. Not just Guppy but also the minicat has been crisscrossing over the lochs, the teens have been enjoying a fair amount of afternoon and evening sails on the mini cat, while Tim is starting to get his sailing skills up in his Optimist. I don’t think the teens will find a more picturesque and peaceful place to complete their schoolwork in the mornings. The afternoons are spend exploring, hiking, sailing or just simply chilling onboard.
Tonight we are spending docked in Gairlochy. The cooking skills have been slowly improving since the start, we have even managed to convince them to include vegetables in every dinner. Today we had Chili sin Carne ( because they forgot to take the meat out of the freezer) and enough rice was made to feed an orphanage for a week. Which is a feat in itself on our four-pit stove! But it tasted good and we are now finding many other things we can do with rice ( like rice pudding, fried rice etc)
Tomorrow we will continue to Fort William and start preparing for our planned hike up Ben Nevis, which is the Highest Munro in Scotland.
