With a good breeze from behind we nicely sail along at 7,5-8 knots. The waves have build a bit, so Guppy is being tossed around a bit more but it’s really great sailing. Some of the teens agree and some curse the waves, although all of them are used to the life onboard while sailing. Yesterday a few teens were standing on the aft deck when they spotted a line in the water. All alarm bells in me went off! I quickly sweeped my gaze over the deck but saw no rope over the side, so I walk to the aft dek to and spot a orange line with a bouy bouncing behind us. Great!.. another fisherman who has just dumped his crap for others to sail through and fish to die in.. Sadly it’s not the first time it has happened to me and not the last I’m afraid. Guppy didn’t slow down much, so I don’t think there is a lot of other stuff hanging on the line but I do wonder where it has caught around. Only the rudder or also the propellor? We manage to pick up the line with the hook and cut of the buoy but we can’t get it off from under the boat. In these conditions It’s to dangerous to jump in, so that will have to wait until the sea calms a bit as there is no urgency. We can steer and with the solar power and generator there is no need to run the main engine anyway. And besides that, we are doing 7,5 knots 🙂
