The beautiful thing about sailing is that you can use the wind to go anywhere in the world, that of course is also the downside. You need to be going where the wind goes, in this case we need to go the opposite way.. Wanting to go that way is a different story, I think I can speak for everyone when I say we aren’t ready for the trip to end yet and would be happy to turn south again. But obligations call and so we are heading north. In the steady Northerlies that have been blowing that doesn’t seem easy (which again is odd for this time of year). A small systems occurred in which we are able to make a good headstart, so, we got underway. The first night and yesterday we were able to sail quite nicely. Sailing north, which should be an advantage in the progressing weather systems. Today we’ve had very light and variable winds with a smooth sea. Which I have to admit is nice to start a trip off with. Sem and Ollie made a yummy lasagna yesterday which is only possible in quiet weather. Small bunches of Common dolphins keep showing up and saying hi to Guppy. And Sem even spotted another shark yesterday! We also continue to see many large man o’ wars, even some that look like albino’s – I don’t even know if that’s a thing, but they are completely colorless, no pretty blues and purples like the others. so for our all our followers, please keep your fingers crossed for us that the wind does something useful for our journey back to the Netherlands 🙂
