Yesterday we sailed along very nicely, the wind got less and the waves smaller, by now the waves have been getting a lot smaller but not friendlier, they seem short en steep en come from different sides, together with the decreasing wind speed it’s causing the sails to flap violently – a sailors nightmare.. At this stage it’s so bad we’ve taken the sails down altogether as it’s actually cheaper to run the engine for a bit then breaking things. (if we didn’t run the engine we would just roll around mercilessly on the waves, which is an option but not such an appealing one :)) Hoping it doesn’t last to long. Besides that though, we’ve only had a few short rain shower and lots of sun during the day. A full moon at night and stunning sunsets! We have even been enjoying the company of dolphins for a few days in a row now. They never stay long but surf in the waves next to us or play at the bow before moving on. I even spotted them once during my nightwatch with Sayaka, it looked very beautiful in the moonlight 🙂
