Sorry that I didn’t write anything for a few days. I was busy with the boat and
schoolwork. Now I have a visitor from the Netherlands. Suzanne came over to stay for a
few days. She rented a car, so we could explore the island together. First, we headed
for Las Palmas and we started from there at noon for a north to south tour, which
normally would take two days. After loosing the way four times we arrived at a nice little
village that seemed right to us, just like all the other villages, really. Via some winding
roads we went higher and higher until we reached the highest-located village in the
island. At an altitude of 1270 meters (4166 feet). There was a big soccer-field and most
of the houses were built into the mountains. We went to eat something at a restaurant
that was built into the mountain. From there we had a great view over the island and I
even could see the mountain tops of Tenerife, the island next to Gran Canaria, that were
showing above the clouds. After seeing many little villages in the heart land of Gran
Canaria we came back to the civilized world again. Then I went for a short swim in the
sea.
