Today a strong wind is blowing over the recently renovated harbour of Port Elizabeth. Some time ago a major storm destroyed the marina and the people here are still busy working on the rusty and damaged docks to keep them securely floating. A heavy swell has been coming in from the sea that made the boats pull hard on their mooring lines but now the wind has shifted and the swell has diminished a little and becouse of the wind it is still difficult to walk upright on the docks. Yesterday I clocked the wind at 45 knots and that was in the harbour! The weather charts don’t show a change in wind direction and strength coming soon so it looks like I will have to stay here a few more days. The other yacht crews are also waiting for better weather and we are having a nice time together. Anyway it gives me a chance to check on everything again aboard Guppy. When I was in Durban I was too busy taking in all my new experiences to do more than basic maintenance work..
