Squalls have kept me awake all night and Guppy had a good shower of fresh sky water. It washed away most of the salt from ‘Gup’ which made me quite happy … but of course as soon as she was desalted a nice and salty wave washed over Guppy again … Early this morning the squalls went away leaving just a few scattered clouds with a good wind and some friendly waves so today was one of the nicest days of sailing we had since we left the South Atlantic Ocean. “Winddancer” the boat from New Zealand, is sailing 1130 nautical miles behind and has just crossed the equator. I had no contact with them for some days because their SSB-radio microphone wasn’t working. But as if by magic it started to work again and we are chatting every day which is a nice distraction from the endless ‘land’scape of waves around Guppy. Still 610 nautical miles to go and with the good wind we should arrive in four days … As we are coming closer all the time I am getting apprehensive and I can’t take my mind off our arrival so easily …
