for new photos… I tried for hours to upload pictures to my website without success, the internet here being too slow but maybe it will work better in my next port of call? Happily, on the day after my arrival in Durban I escaped from the frenetic activity of the city, not by going sailing in the 40 knots winds blowing in the harbour, no… I went on a tour in the mountains with a New Zealand family that is circumnavigating the world in their 40-foot boat, one eight year old kid and one ten years old tagging along. They rented a car and invited me to go upcountry with them. Within three minutes of their invitation I had my stuff together, Guppy was locked and I was ready to exchange the salty marine air for the mountain air. So we left town and we soon could feel the temperature getting colder as we went up the hills. We stayed at a nice camping site that had a whole zoo of rabbits, horses, chickens, gooses and dogs. The two kids found all sorts of ways to keep me very busy all day. Funny how these two are real sailor kids…when they did the dishes they used as little water as possible even though they didn’t have to this time. The mountain air was great, but still it felt good to see the ocean again as we came down the hills on our way back. I really like mountains but I guess I will never live somewhere too far away from the sea. Maybe I will live up a mountain with a view on the sea or maybe by the sea with a view on the mountains… Hmm, this could work, too. Naja, I have plenty of time in front of me to think about that..
