Saturday afternoon we left Panama City heading towards the Galapagos. So far progress has been really, really slow. And the trip has been pretty interesting too. A backpacker, Shaul, who we met back in Shelter Bay decided at the last minute to come with us to the Galapagos. He has been seasick, a few times really bad. Especially the first night he spent puking his guts out, while thunder, lightning and rain came down as if it was the last day on earth. I let Bruno and Shaul keep watch too, but they are so scared for something to happen that they wake me up every time something changes, which is almost the whole time of course. But they are good listeners. And I still enjoy sailing with crew. After a windless rainy day, just after it got dark, the engine stopped all of a sudden and Guppy lay calmly still. As I looked under the boat, my fear came true: a huge blue heavy sail was stuck around the propellor and rudder. I tried to get it out but there was no way that was going to work without jumping into the water. And for that we had to wait until it got light again. When it finally got light, Shaul jumped in the water but he was way too scared to do anything, so I jumped in the water with a knife and started cutting off the sail while he kept watch and Bruno kept watching us from the deck. After almost one hour I got most of the huge sail out of the propellor and rudder and Guppy started moving again. Now I’m just really tired and in a bit of pain because after that I fell down in the back cabin. Just a few bruises, scrapes, and cuts so I’m doing okay..
