I spent a great New Year’s Eve listening to music with light sticks glowing and the shining moon and the stars were a very good trade off to the usual fireworks. Indeed at sea there is no light pollution so the night sky is very clear and beautiful and the stars are brightly shining. I celebrated New Year’s Eve in my current time zone that is two hours behind the Netherlands’ time [GMT – 1. Unfortunately, I could not sleep during the very first hours of 2012 since the wind calmed down and Guppy rolled heavily. At daybreak the wind picked up and finally I could go to sleep – I actually spend most of January 1st napping in the cockpit. Ounce well rested and the heat of the day over I took some time for a general cleaning of Guppy… Now she is all tidy and clean to sail into the New Year 😉
