From Eidi we continue sailing to Fuglafjordur, another day sail which turned out a lot smoother than the last one. The steep and rugged cliffs pass by standing silently while the wind and clouds swirl around them and waterfalls smooth some of the edges. Fuglafjordur is a beautiful small village, we stay here for one and a half days. We celebrate another birthday. Walk around the villge, Clean the boat and prepare for our voyage to Norway. There seems to be a doable weather window, we depart right after a low with a sharp ridge and a windshift which I know will make the sea choppy. But the window is short and we will need all the miles we can get before the wind turns east again. So off we go, shooting out with the current into an indeed very choppy ocean. For most of the day and night we are being tossed around a bit and have a lot of sail changes and we ride on the edge of the system. But then the weather system speeds up and we are left with 15kn of wind from behind. We continue sailing wing on wing and slowly but surely the sea is getting smoother. We even get some sunshine =D
Because of the smoother seas whale spotting is becoming a lot easier and we continue to spot spouts on the horizon throughout the days. Some sperm whales and pilot whales are being spotted close by. On the last day we spotted more spouts on the horizon, orcas this time! A group of at least 4 cruised around Guppy, following us on a distance for a little while before heading of onto their own journey again. It was really incredible to see these magnificent and beautiful animals from so close. All in all we had a beautiful crossing, with lots of sunshine, and much warmer temperatures. We entered Norway just south of Sansdoy, continuing another 40nm into the fjords before dropping anchor in honningdal. A peaceful bay in serene surroundings.
