Only 40 nautical miles [74 kilometres; 46 land miles] to go, and then, with 2200 nautical miles [4074 kilometres, 2532 land miles] behind me, I can drop anchor in Sint Maarten. I think I will sail into port this evening at nightfall. Because I have had strong winds tonight, I made good progress at an average speed of 8 knots; there is still a nice breeze. It is such a strange idea to see land so soon again, but now that I am so close to it, I really cannot wait any longer to see Sint Maarten again. Yesterday a yacht passed me by, I talked to them via VHF-radio and we concluded that I am the youngest ever to have done the Atlantic Crossing solo and unassisted. Actually, I had never thought about that, but it is super cool though. Today the weather is great again, yesterday it actually rained all day long, and this morning very much water came splashing over from these strong crosswind. But now the sun is shining again and the wind weakened a little bit, which allows me to sit in the cockpit without getting a wave over me. Actually, I cannot imagine at all walking ashore soon but surely this will only be a matter of getting used to again…
