Today I decided to set sail for Bonaire tomorrow morning. It will take about three and a half days of sailing, and I hope it won’t get as wet as it was on the route from Îsles Des Saintes. The weather looks promising though. I will have winds coming at an angle from astern, so I hope. Today I asked a German boat if they could take me to the customs’ office with their dinghy, for it is quite a distance to go. And I thought that if I was to paddle overthere it would take me much more time to clear customs which, by the way, always takes very long. Around here they are not as quick as in the Netherlands about it. But usually you are done within one hour.
On the way back we came upon something that I recognised… It was the “Tante Rietje”, a red sailboat that I already knew from Mogán [Gran Canaria]. Back aboard Guppy I took my paddle equipped transportation mode for snails (the dinghy) and rowed to her. It was a nice and warm reunion. We had a very nice chat and a delicious spaghetti for dinner. ThenI I was back into the dinghy and off to Guppy so I could put the dinghy back in its place and also clear the cockpit and the rest of the boat. It had become messy again. It is remarkable how the mess was more on the outside than on the inside this time, the cabin had remained quite clean. That is probably because this chaos consisted mostly of a mega-size shell, a fishing net, a cleaning brush, a pair of slip-on-shoes, flippers, diver’s goggles and some other stuff. Of course some of these things don’t go inside the cabin. Anyway, now that all is tidy again and I will not end up with a big shell falling on my toes as happened during my last crossing.
