I had just jumped in my warm bunk and fell asleep when a strange noise brought me back to consciousness … something inside the cabin was making a lot of noise. I switched on the light just in time not to step on a whopper of a flying fish that had flown in on an air attack on Guppy seconds before and had ended up by my bed after first bumping off the garbage bin and finally trashing the floor in a futile attempt at taking off again … Throwing dead flying fishes back into the water is not one of my favorite thing but catching a live one now tops my list. But before I could send it back to where it came from I first had to catch it, which I did as I cursed it properly. Flying fishes are not only slimy, they also leave plenty of gooey scales behind. I hope this one tells his fellow flying fishes about his bad experience so none of them is stupid enough to come flying in my cabin again…This fish was the first of his specie I have seen since I started on the Indian Ocean … a sure sign that the water is getting warmer. =D
