Today I will be out saling. This time it will be a short trip of 20 nautical miles [37 kilometres;23 land miles] to Portsmouth on the island of Dominica. We’ll see if I can avoid all those fishing buoys this time. There is again a nice easterly wind of about 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale. So, I will first clean the small mess in the cabin and then I will hoist the anchor. I only have a manually operated winch and it is slow going so it is just better to haul most of the anchor chain by hand. Let’s call this early morning exercises. Whoopee… Needless to say, dropping the anchor is much more easier. Actually today is the first day I wake up to sunshine and not to rain. A very good start to the day, so let’s hope it stays that way. I don’t think I will have internet access in Dominica, so uploading photos will be difficult then. But who knows…
