Imagine my surprise when I was checking my mails this morning and read in a newspaper article that Guppy has been sold?! It took me a good while to figure out what the article was all about… but as far as I am aware, my dear Guppy is still safely tied up in Whangarei and under my name while we are hunting all over the world for our next boat.
I am still trying to find the next best place for Guppy (youth sailing) and it’s not easy to find a good place for ‘Guppy’, the boat that taught me so much and that I have so many memories with!
After reading the article through properly I found out that it wasn’t talking about my Guppy at all but about the Hurley 700 (also called Guppy), that I had owned when I was 10years old. The boat that I used to sail throughout all of Holland. Apparently now she has been bought up by a dutch tv-program and is being fixed up for a sailing trip. I wish the new owner (Beau van Erven Dorens) all the best with learning how to sail and navigate and eventually for the journey.
Here is a photo of my own first Guppy ( the left one) and the one I borrowed when I was 10 also a Hurley 700 and now belongs to Beau.
