Another beautiful sunny day. I am sailing on a close tack to a 25 knots wind and heading straight into fast coming towering waves which is not such a comfortable and easy affair… This morning I wasn’t feeling too well but after a few hours I felt better as I got used to the heaving sea and the boat being rammed with each coming wave… We are going forward with the mainsail reefed and the storm-jib up, heading only 20 degrees off our ideal course – with the cabin’s hatch open since the waves are coming from the opposite side to the entrance. However…! Just as I finished writing these words a massive wave crashed on Guppy covering her entirely, pushing the water through the halyards lead-throughs in the sprayhood and splashing the cabin’s entrance. So maybe I better shut the hatch since I don’t feel like having another salt water shower… Writing when Guppy is rocking up and down is an interesting challenge in itself. But I found that by sitting on the map table with one foot braced against the wall and with the other one on the stairway this would keep me upright and with my hands free… Well, it is still rollercoaster time here and the weather forecasts don’t look too promising, but then let’s wait and see what is really coming ..
