From Alden we set sail to Bergen, a full day sail and one to remember! We had a beautiful beam reach wind. light seas and blue skies. It was so nice to be able to sail the entire day without having to change sails constantly or worse having to start the engine at certain passages. By the time we reached Bergen we had a hard time getting ourselves to lower the sails and go into the harbour as we were sailing along so nicely. We arrived in bergenaround 10pm, mooring guppy in the busy bustling city while the low sun cast golden sunrays over us and the city. Bergen is such a change from all the remote and scenic places we have been recently. Everyone set off looking at the shops and soaking in the busy city life around us. We went to Nordnes Sjøbad, a outdoor swimming pool with a lovely sauna right at the fjord. We also went up with the Fløibanen, a cable car to the top of the hill in bergen. At the top is a playground, some very nice nature walks and a lake in which we were able to canoe. We went early in the morning to avoid the crowds which worked out very well, and had a lovely morning. After a few days though we were all ready for a peaceful anchorage again and waved Bergen goodbye. The following week was very enjoyable. The weather turned, temperatures went up and we saw the sun every day! We sailed from one stunning anchorage to the next, swimming, sailing minica, fishing and doing the Guppy games which was a very full, tiring, crazy and epic day.

It feels like we have finally found summer. We even had two bbq’s ashore. Many of the small anchorages in southern Norway have dinghy docks with small huts and bbq’s that are free to use. It’s so nice to see that everyone is able to share and keep these facilities clean and in good shape so everyone can enjoy it. We are now in southern Norway close to Egersund and getting ready to cross back to the Netherlands. Only one more week to go until the end of this voyage, time has flown by so fast!
