Hi Laura and crew, the full moon in the triangle of the spring - Spica in the star formation of the Virgin, Regulus in the Leo and Arktus in the Bootes. Spica is a very special double star system - the main star is about 8 times bigger than the sun and its secongd star is about 4 times bigger than the sun and both circulate each other in the distance of only 20 Mio km with a surface temperature of about 22000 °C (Our sun has about 5300 °C and the distance to our globe is about 150 Mio km) Due to the close distance they deform each other more like eggs - so Spica are cosmic hot eggs. At the Rhein-Main area it was yesterday totally cloudy, so no moon to be seen and today it was even snowing - also unusual whether with us.
