Laura and crew, I am sure you can also see the Southern Cross in the night from your position noe. And Sirius should be nearly directly over you. I have just learnt, that Sirius is a double star system, consisting of the big Sirius A and the tiny Sirius B, actually a white dwarf, rotating around Sirius A in 50 years. It can only be seen by the help of a good Telescope - so not for you, but anyway intersting.
