We celebrated New Year’s Eve at the time of our geographic location which is -2 utc. With some songs, music and of course blowing Guppy’s horn at midnight! But most of us didn’t stay up long, because we all still have our shifts and duties to fulfill. A lovely start of the New Year came along with 15knots of wind from behind, however we did hear a bang early in the morning and saw the spinnaker pole hanging down where it shouldn’t. The aluminium profile which holds the boom in the track of the mast has broken. Not something we can fix easily but that is part of being at sea, having to be creative and finding solutions to the challenges that come along the way 😉 Right now the wind has left us again, so we have some time to think and try some good solution before the trade winds find their way back to Guppy, or Guppy to them but that is not so likely as she is pretty slow at the moment 😉
