The wind kept blowing all night, and for a moment it looked like it wanted to shift to a better direction. I was hopeful that ‘Gup’ had indeed found a good wind but then we were left in a lull again with the sails flapping and going at 0,0 knots… Actually this region is knowned for being windless. So I started the engine again and went looking for a place where there would be winds… But then this morning when the wind slowly woke-up from its sleep it came along with a bad swell that abruptly slowed down Guppy with each second wave. Calm winds in combination with that sort of swell meant only one thing and that was running the engine again! I am really not happy about using so much diesel right in the very first days of this leg so I really hope to find some winds soon. Everything else is as usual – I am coming back into my sea rhythm and I have found a SSB radio network so I can chat with other sailors. At least I can share my frustrations with someone…
