It’s really great that the Trade Wind still keeps me company on my way. Today I finished reading “Maya’s Notebook” [‘El Cuaderno de Maya’, 2011] by Isabelle Allende, a book that I found completely captivating. I enjoyed a nice breakfast with pancakes that I had made earlier in the morning and then I did some maintenance work on Guppy. I replaced the steering cables of the windvane and inspected the fittings, the winches, etc. All to make sure everything is running smoothly. Then I went to visit Guppy’s stern cabin to check on the steering mechanism and to grease the bearings. The temperature is getting cooler again and the clouds are becoming darker and bigger. Sometimes some weird shifting winds blow in at night and Guppy rushes ahead downwind which I don’t mind even though we may be sailing on a wrong course for an hour or so… Usually in the morning the rain curtains disappear and the sun comes out to wish us a ‘Good morning’. The days seem to fly by faster and I try to fully enjoy each of them. Pulled ahead by the Trade Winds and happy in the knowledge that I still have much time to enjoy the peace and the quiet at sea is just wonderful.
