Guppy and I are now in Port Elizabeth. The night before my arrival I suddenly fell sick and I threw up, probably because of something I ate. In the morning I felt a little better and I managed to manoeuvre Guppy safely into the harbour where we took berth. I then spent some hours sleeping which helped a lot to make me feel better, and by the next morning I felt close to my best again. The crew from the boat next to me asked me whether I would like to go along to the Addo Elephant National Park, a nature preserve some 50 kilometres from Port Elizabeth. The next thing I knew I stood in front of a group of elephants, and I saw all kinds of animals just like in the movie ‘The Lion King’… Nice. There were rhinos, ostriches, deers, koedoes, buffaloes, zebras and many other animals in the park. But the elephants coming very close to the car was our tour’s highlight – I never imagined that they were so big. Later in the day we saw a herd of some one hundred of them playing near a mud hole. It was really extraordinary and very impressive. I am very happy to have made that visit. Back aboard Guppy there came a 40 knots wind that swept over the harbour so I had to tie Guppy with additional lines to prevent her from breaking loose. Looks like I will have to be patient for a little while before I set sail again..
