2000 Nautical Miles - 3 months, full of adventure, friendships, new cultures and sailing. -

This journey will take you from flat fields and grazing cows of the Netherlands to the beautiful east coast of Scotland, with its castles, iconic islands and towns such as Inverness and Fort William. The Caledonian Channel will take us right through Scotland's highlands and inner beauty. Once we are through the channel we hop along the cliffs and rugged coast of west Scotland, heading to the Orkneys and Shetland islands. Another two days sailing away is the volcanic archipelago of the Faroe Islands. Get ready for vast cliffs soaring vertically upward, hundreds of feet above the sea. Puffins, whales and eagles abound. It is beautiful and inspiring here and unlike anywhere else you will ever see. From the Faroe Islands we make the 400nm passage to Norway. Ending up along the stunning Fjords and slowly making our way south visiting small Norwegian towns, learning about it’s rich history and soaking in the rugged landscape.

When you sail with us you join our live-aboard family of 4 ( Laura, Sander, Tim and Alex -

So what about school?

We encourage you to talk to your school director or responsible department about taking your school work along with you, this way you are able to continue your schooling while exploring the world. There will be no possibility to communicate with your school during the sea-days but the crew is always happy to help you with your home schooling questions.

Become part of our ever-growing Guppy Family. Onboard you will be taking care of the cooking, cleaning, navigation, night watches, sailing and trip planning with the rest of the group. We like to do everything together and involve everyone in all aspects of the trips.

2Do I need to be able to sail?
No previous sailing experience is needed to join our programs as long as you have an idea of what a boat looks like your good to go ;)
3Can I stay in contact with my friends and family while aboard the ship?
There will NOT be any wifi or internet on board the ship, a perfect moment to start writing, reading and learning who you are without the world telling you who you should be. A perfect moment for personal conversations without distraction and learning how to navigate the world without google & google maps ;) There will be a daily blog written by a crew member or student during the entire duration of the trip for the home front to follow. In case of an emergency you will always be able to contact your family and your family you through the ships communication systems. This will always go through a crew member. While we are ashore there will be opportunities to connect to wifi and talk to your friends and family.
4How do I sign up?
Write us an e-mail showing your interest and we will provide you with all the information you need. Your parents and school will need to agree with you going on this voyage, it’s then time for a personal interview with Laura Dekker and the World Sailing Foundation Team. If you have been chosen to come onboard a spot will be reserved for you. It’s now up to you to start raising the funds for your journey.
